The vamoots disc rsl is moots ultimate race ready, performance frameset. Hand built at mootsâ hq in steamboat springs, colorado, the vamoots is the ultimate in titanium bike craftsmanship. Rsl denotes that the vamoots is built to mootsâ racing geometry, creating a high performance, aggressive frame but with the ride feel and comfort that is utterly unique to mootsâ titanium frames.
The disc rsl capitalise on the same design features as the moots rim brake equivalent vamoots but features a 3d printed dropout that ties in a flat mount disc brake mount, Di2 cable âtunnelâ, and a 142x12 thru axle.
3d-printing this vital part of the bike has various benefits due to the precision of 3d-printing the part ensures perfect wheel alignment and brake mounting. It is also incredibly resourceful: to machine the dropout from a billet would result in 85% waste whereas 3d printing results in less than 10% waste. This makes the machining process in line with moots overall ethos of responsible business practice and always minimising waste.
As well as the tunnelling in the rear drop out, the vamoots rsl uses internal cabling for Di2 throughout, creating a clean aesthetic.
Like all moots framesets, the vamoots rsl is made from us-made seamless titanium alloy tubing. Us-made titanium tubing is some of the very best in the world, and moots cold works the tubing to make it consistently thin in the centre while maintaining thickness at the ends. Internally butting the tubes also allows moots to keep the outside diameter as large as possible while having thin walls, creating an incredible strength-to-weight ratio, and making the vamoots incredibly stiff, light and highly responsive.
The vamoots rsl disc is available in nine sizes, all with specific tubing diameters and wall thicknesses for every frame size that create the best performance standard for differing rider weights and sizes.
Customisation is also central to moots work. As well as standard sizing, the vamoots rsl disc is available in custom geometry. Different finishes are also available including etching, anodizing, and polishing. These factors combine to mean that the vamoots rsl disc can be totally unique.
